Using discounts

The Discounts area of your Orbit dashboard is where you create the codes customers type at checkout. A code can take a percentage or a set amount off, cover free delivery, or give one item cheap when the customer buys others. Every discount shares the same conditions: who can use it, how often, and between which dates.

Open the Discounts page

1. From your Orbit dashboard, go to Discounts. It sits under Commerce in the left-hand menu.
2. The page opens with a list of every discount in your store, its status, type, value and usage.
3. Click Create discount to start a new one.

Note: A discount never applies on its own. The customer has to enter the code at checkout, so share it in your emails, adverts and on your storefront.

The four discount types

You pick a type when you create the discount, and it cannot be changed afterwards.

• Amount off products: takes a percentage or an amount off chosen products, collections or variants.
• Buy X get Y: gives money off one set of items when the customer buys another, such as buy two and get one free.
• Amount off order: takes a percentage or an amount off the whole order.
• Free shipping: removes the delivery charge from the order.
