Products | Product Types
Physical, digital, subscription, service and gift card products — what each type does and the extra settings each one adds to the product editor.
Every product in Orbit has a type, chosen when you create it. The type decides how the product is sold and fulfilled — and adds its own section to the product editor with the settings that type needs.

The five types
Physical Product — tangible items that require shipping. The default; adds inventory, shipping and customs sections.
Digital Product — downloadable files and digital content. No shipping; customers get download links after payment.
Subscription — recurring billing with configurable plans. Customers are charged on the interval you set until they cancel.
Service — professional services and consultations, booked by time slot with duration, capacity and lead-time rules.
Gift Card — prepaid store credit, emailed to the recipient on payment. See the Gift Cards guides for the selling side.
Digital products

Digital products add a Digital files section: attach the files customers download after purchase (Add File to upload, or Pick from library to reuse a file already in your media library). The License Keys section generates unique keys per order for software-style products.
Subscription products

Subscriptions add Subscription plans: configure the billing intervals and pricing for the product — monthly, quarterly, yearly, with whatever pricing each plan carries. Customers manage their subscription from their account; you manage the fleet under Subscriptions (see the Subscriptions guides).
Service products

Services add Service details — the booking engine for the product:
Session duration and unit — the length of one booking slot.
Capacity per slot — 1 for one-to-one work, more for group sessions.
Lead time (hours) — the minimum advance notice you need.
Buffer between bookings — setup or changeover time between slots.
Payment type — pay in full at checkout, or take a deposit.
Cancellation policy — shown at checkout and on the order confirmation.
Duration plus your availability (Settings → Service Hours) drive the storefront booking calendar; bookings land under Bookings.
Tips
The type is set at creation — if a product needs to change type, create it again correctly rather than fighting the editor.
Digital and gift card products skip shipping automatically, which keeps checkout tidy for mixed baskets.
