Buy two lamps, get the third free — bundle-style promotions that move volume and clear stock.

Buy X Get Y is the volume play: buy two, get one free; buy the sofa, get the cushions half price. It moves units and clears stock better than a flat percentage because the reward is a thing, not a number.

Creating one

  1. Discounts → Create discount and choose the Buy X get Y type.

  2. Define X — what the customer buys: the quantity and which products or categories qualify.

  3. Define Y — what they get: the reward item(s) and the discount on them (free, a percentage off, or an amount off).

  4. Set the usual guardrails — dates, usage limits, eligibility.

Patterns that work

  • Same-item BXGY (“3 for 2 on candles”) — pure volume, great for consumables.

  • Cross-product (“buy the sofa, get cushions 50% off”) — attaches accessories to big tickets.

  • Clearance (“buy 2 sale items, get a 3rd free”) — moves end-of-line stock without marking everything down.

Tips

  • The free/cheap Y should cost you little and delight disproportionately — accessories, not anchors.

  • Show it on the product page (a banner or the page builder's promotion elements) — BXGY nobody sees converts nobody.
