Discounts | Stacking, Combinations & Limits
Can two codes combine? Should a sale item get the code too? Combinations, caps and usage limits keep promotions profitable.
The difference between a profitable promotion and an expensive mistake usually lives in three settings: combinations, caps and limits.

Combinations
The Combinations section of a discount decides what else it can apply alongside. Choose deliberately per discount:
A big sitewide code that also combines with your free-shipping offer and the clearance markdown can turn 20% off into 45% off.
Conservative default: let discounts combine only where you have done the maths.
Caps (maximum discount amount)
Percentage discounts scale with basket size — a cap stops that. “20% off, max £100” behaves identically on small baskets and safely on enormous ones.
Usage limits
Total uses — “first 100 customers” urgency that is actually enforced.
Uses per customer — one welcome per person, not one per email address they invent.
And the date guardrails
Active dates start and end the offer automatically. A code without an end date will be found on a coupon site in 2028, still working.
Tips
Test the combination yourself before launch: put the code through checkout against a sale item and read the total.
When a promotion goes wrong, these three sections are where you look first.
