Discounts | Conditions & Limits
The conditions and limits in Orbit allow you to control exactly when, how, and by whom a discount can be used. They apply to every discount type, so you can set minimum requirements, decide who is eligible, cap usage, schedule active dates, and choose how the discount combines with others.
The conditions and limits in Orbit allow you to control exactly when, how, and by whom a discount can be used. They apply to every discount type, so you can set minimum requirements, decide who is eligible, cap usage, schedule active dates, and choose how the discount combines with others.
These sections appear in the Conditions area when you create or edit any discount. You can leave them at their defaults to keep a discount open to everyone, or tighten them to target a specific offer.
Minimum requirements
Minimum requirements set what a customer must have in their basket before the discount applies. Choose one of:
No minimum requirements — the discount applies to any qualifying order.
Minimum purchase amount — the order subtotal must reach the amount you enter before the discount applies.
Minimum quantity of items — the basket must contain at least the number of items you enter.
Use a minimum purchase amount to encourage larger baskets (for example, free shipping over a set spend), or a minimum quantity to reward customers who buy several items at once.
Customer eligibility
Customer eligibility controls who can use the discount. Choose one of:
Everyone — any customer can use the discount.
Specific customers — only the customers you select can use it. Search for and add customers individually.
Specific customer segments — only customers in the segments you select can use it.
Use specific customers for a one-off gesture to a named shopper, and customer segments to target a wider group, such as wholesale buyers or returning customers.
Maximum discount uses
Usage limits cap how often a discount can be redeemed. You can apply either or both of the following:
Limit to one use per customer — each customer can use the discount only once.
Limit number of times this discount can be used in total — set an overall cap, after which the discount can no longer be used. Enter the total number of uses allowed.
Use a per-customer limit to stop repeat redemptions of a welcome offer, and a total limit to control the cost of a wider promotion or run a limited-availability deal.
Active dates
Active dates control the period during which a discount can be used. Set a start date to schedule when the discount becomes available. Tick Set end date to add an end date, after which the discount stops applying automatically.
If you do not set an end date, the discount stays active from its start date until you deactivate or delete it. Scheduling dates is useful for seasonal sales and time-limited campaigns that you want to start and finish without having to manage them by hand.
Combinations
Combinations decide whether this discount can be applied alongside other discounts when both qualify. Tick the types you want to allow:
Combine with product discounts — allow this discount to stack with discounts on products.
Combine with order discounts — allow this discount to stack with order-level discounts.
Combine with shipping discounts — allow this discount to stack with shipping discounts.
Leave these unticked if you want the discount to apply on its own, and tick them only where you are happy for customers to benefit from more than one offer at the same time.

Why conditions and limits are important
Conditions and limits let you offer the right deal to the right customers without giving away more margin than you intend. They keep promotions targeted, scheduled, and under control.
By using these sections, you can:
Require a minimum spend or quantity before a discount applies
Restrict a discount to chosen customers or segments
Cap how many times a discount can be used
Schedule when a discount starts and ends
Decide whether a discount can be combined with others
Setting conditions and limits carefully helps you protect your margins while still running offers that customers value.
