Plugins | Google Shopping Feed

The Google Shopping Feed plugin generates a Google Merchant Center XML feed of your catalogue — products automatically formatted as RSS 2.0 with the Google Shopping namespace, ready for scheduled fetch by Google. It supports variant expansion, category mapping and feed validation.

Setup

1. Install the plugin from Plugins (a free plan tier is available, with a trial of the paid plan).

2. Open the plugin and copy your feed URL — this is what Google fetches.

3. In Google Merchant Center: Products → Feeds → add a feed, choose Scheduled fetch, and paste the feed URL. Google pulls your catalogue on the schedule you set — daily is right for most stores.

4. Check the first fetch's diagnostics in Merchant Center and fix what it flags.

Getting products approved first time

Google rejects listings for missing data. The usual gaps, all fixable in your product editor:

• GTIN/barcode — the biggest single cause of disapproval (see Products | SKUs & Barcodes).

• Category mapping — the plugin maps your product taxonomy to Google's; set taxonomy on products before your first fetch (see Products | Taxonomy vs Categories).

• Images — every product needs at least one clean image; no watermarks or text overlays.

Tips

• The feed updates as your catalogue does — Merchant Center's scheduled fetch keeps Google in sync; you never re-export by hand.

• Feed validation in the plugin catches most issues before Google does — run it after big catalogue changes.
