The Customers section in Orbit allows you to view everyone who has shopped with or registered at your store, search and filter the list, take bulk actions, and move customer records in and out of Orbit using CSV files.

From here you can review your customer list, find specific customers, select several at once for a bulk action, export customers to a CSV file, and import customers from a CSV file.

Accessing Customers

To access Customers:

  • From the left-hand menu, go to Commerce.

  • Select Customers.

The Customers page will open, showing your customer list.

Customers overview

Each customer is shown as a row in the list. The list includes the following columns:

  • Customer name — the customer’s full name. Click the name to open their detail page.

  • Email — the email address held on the customer’s record.

  • Email subscription — whether the customer is Subscribed or Not Subscribed to marketing emails.

  • Location — the city, region, and country from the customer’s default address.

  • Orders — the number of orders the customer has placed.

  • Amount Spent — the total value of the customer’s orders.

Add filters

Use Add Filter to narrow down the list. You can filter by Segments, Tags, Account Status, Subscription Status, and Amount Spent. Each filter you add appears as a pill above the list, and you can choose Clear all to remove them.

Search customers

Use the Search field to find a customer by name or email. This is useful when your store has a large number of customers.

Selecting customers for bulk actions

Tick the checkbox next to a customer to select them, or tick the checkbox in the column header to select everyone on the page. When one or more customers are selected, a toolbar appears showing how many are selected, with the following actions available:

  • Apply tags — add one or more tags to the selected customers.

  • Add to segment — add the selected customers to a customer segment.

  • Export selected — export only the selected customers to a CSV file.

  • Delete customers — permanently remove the selected customers.

Be careful when deleting customers. Deleting removes the records permanently and cannot be undone, so check your selection before you confirm.

Exporting customers

Click Export to download your customers as a CSV file. In the export dialog you can choose the scope and the format of the file.

The scope controls which customers are included:

  • Current page — only the customers shown on the page you are viewing.

  • All customers — every customer in your store.

  • Selected — only the customers you have ticked.

  • Filtered — only the customers that match your current search and filters.

The format controls how the file is prepared, with an Excel-friendly option and a plain CSV option. Once you have chosen, the export is generated and the file downloads automatically.

Importing customers

Click Import to add customers from a CSV file. The import runs through a few steps:

  1. Upload

Choose a CSV file from your computer. The file must be in CSV format and no larger than 25MB. If you do not already have a file, you can download a sample template to see the columns Orbit expects, such as First Name, Last Name, Email, Company, and address details.

  1. Map columns

Match the columns in your file to the matching customer fields in Orbit. This makes sure each piece of information lands in the right place, even if your column names differ from Orbit’s.

  1. Review

Check a summary of the file before importing, including the number of rows, the number of customers, and a sample of the data. This is your chance to confirm everything looks correct.

  1. Import

Start the import. Orbit processes the file and shows progress as your customers are added. Once it finishes, the new customers appear in your list.

Why managing customers is important

Keeping your customer list accurate and up to date helps you understand who is buying from you and target your marketing more effectively. Importing and exporting lets you move customer data in and out of Orbit, whether you are migrating from another system, sharing data with another tool, or keeping a backup.

By using the Customers section, you can:

  • Review every customer alongside their orders and spend

  • Find and filter customers quickly

  • Tag, segment, or remove customers in bulk

  • Export customers to CSV for use elsewhere

  • Import customers from CSV in a few guided steps
