Customers | Adding a Customer
Create customer records yourself — for phone orders, trade accounts and VIPs — with addresses and marketing preferences in place.
Most customers create themselves at checkout. For everything else — phone orders, trade accounts, a VIP you want on record — create them from Customers → Add customer.

What to fill in
Name and email — the essentials. The email is how invoices, recovery links and order updates reach them.
Addresses — add their default shipping and billing address now and checkout is two clicks faster for them forever.
Marketing preferences — whether they have consented to email and SMS marketing. Only mark subscribed if they actually said yes.
Tax status — mark genuine trade customers tax-exempt where your rules allow.
After creation
The profile page becomes the record: total spent, orders, last order at the top; contact, addresses, notes, tags, custom fields below; and their orders, payments and history one click deeper. Invite them to set a password if you want them self-serving on the storefront account.
Tips
Creating a manual order? Attach the customer record instead of a bare email — history and lifetime value stay accurate (see Orders | Creating a Manual Order).
