The Digital Assets library in Orbit allows you to store the downloadable files you sell or give away — such as e-books, audio files, templates, and other digital content — and attach them to your digital and downloadable products. You upload each asset once and can then link it to one or more products.
The Digital Assets library in Orbit allows you to store the downloadable files you sell or give away — such as e-books, audio files, templates, and other digital content — and attach them to your digital and downloadable products. You upload each asset once and can then link it to one or more products.
From here you can upload new files, browse and search your existing library, see how each asset is being used, and control which files are sold as part of a product and which are offered as free samples or previews.
Accessing Digital Assets
To access the Digital Assets library:
From the left-hand menu, go to Products.
Select Digital Assets.
The Digital Assets page will open, showing your store's downloadable file library.
Uploading assets
Select Upload assets to add files to your library. Once a file is uploaded it is stored in Orbit, so you only need to upload it once and can reuse it across as many products as you need. Use Browse library to look through the files you have already uploaded.
The library table
Your assets are listed in a table, with each file shown on its own row. The columns are:
Filename — the name of the file, with a short reference shown beneath it.
Size — how large the file is, for example in KB or MB.
Type — the file type, such as application/pdf, audio/mpeg, or application/zip.
Linked product — the product the asset is attached to, or Unlinked if it is not yet attached to anything.
Uploaded — the date the file was added to your library.

Finding assets
Use the Search field to find an asset by filename. You can also filter the list using the asset and type filters at the top, so you can quickly narrow a large library down to the files you are looking for. The table is paged, so use Previous and Next to move through your assets.
Linking and unlinking assets
An asset becomes a download for your customers once it is linked to a product. You can link an asset to one or more products, and the Linked product column shows where each file is currently attached. Files that are not yet attached appear as Unlinked. You can unlink an asset at any time to stop it being delivered with a product, without removing the file from your library.
Samples and free previews
As well as the main files a customer receives after buying, you can mark an asset as a sample or free preview — for example a sample chapter of an e-book. These let customers try part of your content before they buy, which can help them decide, while the full files remain available only to those who have purchased.
Why Digital Assets are important
The Digital Assets library keeps all your downloadable files in one organised place and makes sure customers receive the right files when they buy a digital product. By uploading each file once and linking it where it is needed, you can manage your downloadable content efficiently and offer samples to encourage sales.
