Products | SKUs & Barcodes
Identify every product and variant reliably: SKUs for your warehouse, barcodes (GTINs) for scanners, marketplaces and AI shopping channels.
Two identifiers keep a growing catalogue sane: your internal SKU and the manufacturer's barcode. Both live on the variant — every sellable version of a product gets its own.

SKU (Stock Keeping Unit)
Your code, your rules. Switch on This product has a SKU or barcode in the Inventory section (Variants section for multi-option products) and enter it. A consistent scheme pays off forever — for example FC-SQ-SGE for the Fern Cushion, Square, Sage. SKUs appear on pick lists, packing slips and purchase orders, and the warehouse scans them at the workbench.
Barcode / GTIN
The global identifier printed on the packaging — EAN, UPC or ISBN. Enter it for any product you did not manufacture yourself. Barcodes matter beyond the shelf:
Marketplaces and feed plugins (Google Shopping, Meta, Pinterest) match listings by GTIN.
AI shopping assistants match your product to the same item across the web — the AI Shopping readiness checklist tracks your barcode coverage.
Cycle counts and workbench packing verify units by barcode scan.
Tips
Never reuse a retired SKU on a different product — reports and audits assume they are eternal.
Hand-making your products? You can leave barcodes empty; add them if you ever wholesale through marketplaces.
