Every customer record can become a signed-in account on your storefront. The profile shows the state under Account — “No account” until they set a password.

What an account gives the customer

  • Their orders — status, invoices, tracking, and the reorder button everyone loves.

  • Addresses they manage themselves — faster checkout every time.

  • Subscriptions — pause, resume or change plans without emailing you (see the Subscriptions guides).

  • Digital downloads and license keys they have bought.

  • Loyalty points balance, if you run that plugin.

How accounts get activated

  • Checkout offers account creation — most accounts start there.

  • You can invite an existing customer from their profile: they get an email, set a password, and their history is already waiting.

Tips

  • Imported customers (from a migration) have records but no passwords — a “set your password” invite email is the standard last step of any platform move.

  • Trade customers need an account to see their negotiated B2B catalogue prices — it is how the storefront knows who is looking.
