Adding wishlist, currency switcher and VAT toggle controls

Four page builder elements hand control to the shopper: a wishlist heart, a block of their saved products, a currency switcher and a VAT toggle. All four sit in the Ecommerce group of the Elements panel. This guide covers what each one shows, where it goes, and what to set up first.

Considerations

• None of these four need your customer to be signed in. Guests and signed-in customers get the same controls.
• A wishlist is saved in your customer's browser, so the wishlist elements stay empty on the builder canvas.
• The Currency Switcher needs currencies switched on in your settings. The VAT Toggle needs tax turned on with a standard rate. The wishlist elements need nothing set up first.
• Your changes reach shoppers once you save and publish the page or template.

Add the Wishlist Icon

The Wishlist Icon is a heart with a small badge counting the products your customer has saved. Clicking it opens their wishlist. It belongs in your header, alongside the basket and account icons.

1. From your Orbit dashboard, go to Storefront, then Templates, and click the Header tab.
2. Open the header template your shop uses and drag Wishlist Icon from the Ecommerce group into it.
3. Click the icon to open its settings. Under Icon, pick the icon shoppers will see.
4. Under Label, turn Show Label on to put words next to the icon, then type them into Label Text.
5. Under Count Badge, turn Show Count on or off. The badge appears when the customer has saved items.
6. On the Design tab, set Icon Size, Icon Colour, Icon Hover Colour, Badge Colour and Badge Text Colour.
7. Click Save, then Publish.

Add the Wishlist element

The Wishlist element shows the products a visitor has saved, as product cards. Your storefront already has its own wishlist page, so use this element when you want saved products on a page you build, such as a page in the account area or a landing page.

1. Open the page in the page builder and drag Wishlist from the Ecommerce group onto it.
2. Click it to open its settings. Under Wishlist, set Max Products to cap how many cards show.
3. Set When Empty to Hide the section or Show a message. For a message, type it into Empty Message.
4. Under Section Title, turn Show Title on and type your heading into Title Text.
5. Under Card Content, turn Show Price, Show Compare At Price, Show Brand and Show Badges on or off.
6. On the Design tab, under Layout, set Mode to Grid or Carousel, then set Columns, Gap and Image Aspect Ratio. In carousel mode Columns is named Cards per view.
7. Click Save, then Publish.

Add the Currency Switcher

The Currency Switcher lets your customer choose the currency they shop in, and prices then show in that currency. It usually goes in your header or the bar above it. Add your currencies and switch them on first, as in Selling in multiple currencies. With only one currency switched on, the switcher hides itself on the live store.

1. Open your header template or the page in the page builder, and drag Currency Switcher from the Ecommerce group into place.
2. Click it to open its settings. Under Display, set Display Style to Dropdown or Inline. Inline shows every currency as a button.
3. Add optional text in front of the switcher with Label.
4. Under Option Format, choose what each option reads with Show Symbol, Show Code and Show Name.
5. Under Behaviour, turn Show With Single Currency on to keep the switcher visible when your store has one currency switched on.
6. Click Save, then Publish.

Tip: While the element is selected in the builder, a small tag reads Preview: Mock currencies. The canvas shows sample currencies, not the ones you sell in.

Add the VAT Toggle

The VAT Toggle is a two-part switch reading Inc VAT and Ex VAT. Your customer picks one and every price on the storefront changes to that view. Trade and B2B stores use it most. Checkout always follows your tax settings and is never affected. Turn tax on with a standard rate first, as in Setting up taxes, or the toggle shows nothing to shoppers.

1. Open the page or template in the page builder, and drag VAT Toggle from the Ecommerce group into place. It suits a header, or the top of a product or category page.
2. Click it to open its settings. Under Labels, type optional Prefix Text to sit in front of the switch.
3. Change Including VAT Label and Excluding VAT Label if you want other wording.
4. Under Behaviour, set Default View. Store setting follows Display Prices in Shop from your tax settings, or pick Including VAT or Excluding VAT.
5. Turn Remember Choice on to keep your customer's choice for the rest of their visit.
6. On the Design tab, set Alignment, Track Background, Active Background and Active Text Colour.
7. Click Save, then Publish.
