Inventory | Picking & Cycle Counts

Picking brings warehouse-floor discipline to your store: bin locations for every item, consolidated pick lists for outgoing orders, and scan-based cycle counts to keep system stock honest. Bins are display-only — stock only changes when a cycle count's variances are applied.

Picking and cycle counts are part of the operations toolkit, available on the Enterprise plan.

Getting set up

The Overview tab walks you through the three essentials:

1. Assign bin locations to your inventory — edit bins inline in the Bin column on the inventory page, select rows to bulk-set one, or round-trip the Bin name column via CSV import/export.

2. Print your first pick list — from the orders list (see below).

3. Run a cycle count — scan-check a bin or category against system stock, review the variance report, and apply corrections in one click.

Printing a pick list

1. On the Orders page, tick the orders you are ready to pick.

2. Choose Print pick list from the bulk-action bar.

You get one consolidated, bin-sorted document with the remaining units to pick — partially fulfilled lines only print what is left. The pick list header summarises orders, items and units, and the footer lists the orders included in the run.

Running a cycle count

The Cycle counts tab lists every session with its status — in progress, applied or cancelled — so stocktakes can be paused and resumed safely.

1. Open Picking → Cycle counts and select New cycle count.

2. Give the count an optional name, for example “Lighting aisle weekly count”.

3. Scope it by bins and/or categories — leave everything empty to count the whole location. The count snapshots matching tracked physical items immediately (up to 1,000 per session).

4. Select Start count.

Counting

1. Scan or type a barcode or SKU and press Enter — each scan adds 1 to the matching line's count. You can also type quantities directly for shelf totals.

The header tracks progress (lines counted), variances (over, short, matched) and the absolute units off. Lines show expected versus counted with the variance highlighted.

2. When every line is counted, select Apply variances to correct your stock levels in one click — or Cancel count to discard the session without changing anything.

Tips

• Little and often beats an annual stocktake: count one aisle or category a week.

• Pick lists only include remaining units, so it is safe to reprint after a partial fulfilment.

• Stock does not move when you scan — nothing changes until you apply variances, so a mistaken scan never corrupts your inventory.
