Gift Cards | Redeeming & Balance Checks

How customers spend their gift cards at checkout, how balances carry over, and how to look one up.

Gift cards are spent at checkout like cash — and unlike a discount code, an unspent remainder stays on the card.

How customers redeem

  1. They shop and go to checkout as normal.

  2. They enter the gift card code in the payment step.

  3. The card's balance applies to the total. Anything left stays on the card for next time — the code keeps working until the balance or the expiry runs out.

If the basket is bigger than the balance, they pay the difference with a normal payment method.

Checking a balance (you)

Gift Cards lists every card ever sold or issued: code, initial value, current balance, status. Open any card for its full history — when it was issued, what it was spent on, what is left. When a customer emails “how much is on my card?”, this page is the answer.

Managing a card

From the card you can adjust the balance (top-ups, corrections) or deactivate it — for a lost-code situation, deactivate and reissue rather than shrugging.

Tips

  • Balances never expire unless you set an expiry at issue — see Gift Cards | Expiry & Compliance before adding one.
