Analytics | Understanding Reports

Sessions, sales, conversion, top products — how to read the analytics reports without drowning in numbers.

Analytics → Reports is where the store's numbers live. The trick isn't reading every report — it's knowing which three answer your current question.

The core reads

  • Sales over time — revenue by day/week/month, with the comparison period. The “are we growing” report.

  • Sessions and conversion rate — visitors and the share who bought. A sales dip is a traffic dip or a conversion dip; this pair tells you which.

  • Top products — what actually sells, by revenue and units. Restock and marketing decisions come from here.

  • Top customers / segments — who your best buyers are, for VIP treatment and lookalike marketing.

Reading habits that work

  • Always compare periods — a bare number means nothing; “versus last month” is the meaning.

  • Check conversion before touching marketing spend. Traffic into a poorly-converting store is water into a leaky bucket.

  • Note events on charts mentally: the sale weekend spike and the out-of-stock dip explain themselves later.

Tips

  • The dashboard homepage cards are the same metrics in miniature — reports are for when the card makes you ask “why?”.
