Subscriptions | Creating Subscription Plans
Monthly, quarterly, yearly, with trials and per-plan pricing — the plans on a subscription product are what customers actually subscribe to.
A subscription product sells plans, not units. The plans live on the product editor's Subscription plans section (Type extras) — each one is a billing interval with its own price.

Creating a plan
Create or open a product of type Subscription (see Products | Product Types).
Under Subscription plans, select Add Plan.
Set the billing interval and the price charged each cycle. Add several plans to give the choice — “£18 monthly” next to “£48 quarterly” nudges the longer commitment.
Save the product. The plans appear at checkout for customers to pick between.
Designing plans that sell
Monthly as the default, a longer plan at a visible discount — the anchor does the selling.
A trial where the product suits it: first month reduced or free converts browsers into subscribers; the recovery is in month two.
Keep plan count small — two or three. Seven plans is a spreadsheet, not a choice.
Tips
Changing a plan's price later affects new subscribers; existing ones keep their rate — grandfathering is automatic, so plan price rises are safe to do properly.
The Subscriptions settings page holds the global selling behaviour — see Subscriptions | Settings.
