Storefront & Themes | The Storefront Search
What customers experience when they search your store — and the settings and plugins that shape the results.
Store visitors who search convert at several times the rate of browsers — so what your search returns is worth a settings review, not just acceptance.

What customers get by default
The search element on your storefront (position and styling follow your theme) returns matching products, and can also surface collections, pages and blog posts — plus live suggestions as they type.
Shaping the behaviour
Settings → Search (Enterprise) holds the behaviour controls:
Match mode — how forgiving the matching is. Smart matching tolerates typos and partial words.
Result types — whether pages and blog posts join products in results.
Suggestions — the as-you-type proposals.
Visibility rules — who may see products in search at all (everyone, logged-in, tagged customers) for trade catalogues.
Going further with the plugin
The Advanced Search plugin adds the merchandising layer: hide specific products from search for chosen audiences, custom suggestion keywords, and redirects that send exact searches (“delivery”, “returns”) straight to the right page (see Plugins | Advanced Search).
Tips
Search your own store for your ten best products monthly — if they're not top, the settings need attention.
Analytics show what visitors search for; zero-result searches are content and redirect opportunities.
