Settings | Domains

The Domains section in Orbit Commerce allows you to manage the web addresses customers use to access your online store. From here, you can use your default Orbit Commerce subdomain, change your subdomain, or connect a custom domain for a more professional storefront URL.

Accessing Domains

To access the Domains page:

1. Go to Settings from the main Orbit Commerce admin area.

2. Select Domains.

The Domains page will open, where you can manage your store’s domain settings.

Orbit Commerce subdomain

Every Orbit Commerce store has a default subdomain ending in: myorbitcommerce.net

This subdomain can be used to access your storefront without needing to connect a custom domain.

The current Orbit Commerce subdomain is shown at the top of the Domains page. You can also select Visit store to open the storefront using this domain.

Changing your Orbit Commerce subdomain

To change your Orbit Commerce subdomain:

1. In the Orbit Commerce subdomain section, select Change subdomain.

2. Enter the new subdomain you would like to use.

Orbit Commerce will check whether the subdomain is available.

3. If the subdomain is available, select Save.

Once saved, your store will be accessible from the updated Orbit Commerce subdomain.

Custom domains

The Custom domains section allows you to connect your own domain to your Orbit Commerce store.

This is useful if you want customers to access your store from a professional branded URL.

The Domains page shows how many custom domains are currently connected.

Adding a custom domain

To add a custom domain:

1. In the Custom domains section, select Add domain.

2. Enter your domain name.

3. Select Add.

After adding the domain, you may need to update your DNS settings with your domain provider before the domain can fully connect to Orbit Commerce.

Primary domain

A domain marked as Primary is the main domain used for your store.

Your primary domain is the main URL customers will be directed to when accessing your storefront. If you have multiple domains connected, the primary domain helps ensure customers are sent to the preferred store address.

Visiting your store

You can preview your storefront from the Domains page by selecting Visit store.

This opens the customer-facing version of your store using the current Orbit Commerce subdomain or connected domain. This is useful for checking that the store is accessible and that the domain is working as expected.

Why Domains are important

Your domain is the address customers use to visit your store. A clear and professional domain helps make your store easier to recognise, share, and trust.

Orbit Commerce provides every store with a default subdomain, so your storefront can be accessed even if you do not have your own domain yet. You can also add a custom domain if you want to use a branded URL, such as your own business website address.
