Analytics | Live View Use Cases

Real-time visitors on your store right now — when watching Live View is useful and when it's just hypnotic.

Analytics → Live View shows visitors on your store in real time — how many are online, where they are, what they're doing. The dashboard's online indicator is the same feed in miniature.

When it's genuinely useful

  • Campaign launches — watch the email or ad land: visitors arriving in the minute after send, and whether they reach checkout.

  • Flash sales and drops — live demand as the sale opens; inventory warnings in real time.

  • Post-fix verification — you changed the checkout; watch real visitors complete it before you call it fixed.

  • Outage sniffing — an unusual zero at a busy hour is an alarm, not a compliment to your quiet Tuesday.

When it isn't

Random Tuesday-morning watching changes nothing and feels like work. The same numbers, read tomorrow in Reports, are calmer and just as true. Live View is for moments, not monitoring.

Tips

  • Pair it with a launch checklist: email sent → live view → first order → done. It's the closest thing ecommerce has to watching the shop floor.
